Google Hates Slow Websites

We, you, and Google hate slow websites. Because it negatively impacts your user’s navigation throughout your website. Did you know 40% of people abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load? They are never coming back or recommending it to anyone. Google puts your website listing down if your website is too slow. We realized just how important your website speed is about 2 years ago. So what did LERWS do? We took action, purchased a dedicated hosting server, started optimizing images without “losing much” quality and integrated a brand new process that focuses on your websites speed. We even made a post about it early this year here.

How Google Factors Your Loading Speed

Google now penalizes your site due to loading speed. Because it affects how the users experience with your website so it’s only natural Google decided to implement it into it’s ranking factors guidelines.

Google’s Zhiheng Wang and Doantam Phan wrote:

The “Speed Update,” as we’re calling it, will only affect pages that deliver the slowest experience to users and will only affect a small percentage of queries. It applies the same standard to all pages, regardless of the technology used to build the page. The intent of the search query is still a very strong signal, so a slow page may still rank highly if it has great, relevant content.

This update took effect on July 2018, so we’ve been more than prepared to have all our privately hosted websites follow Google’s new guideline.

Shared Hosting Vs. Dedicated Hosting

Knowing the difference between these types of hosting is important for security and loading speed. Basically, Shared hosting means you’re sharing the server with other people you’ll never know and have more vulnerability to hacking into by these people because they’re in your own server. Dedicated Hosting means you have a dedicated hosting server appointed to you, meaning, you don’t share your server with anyone else, or in our case, only with our trust-worthy clients who’ve made their website with us.

They both host your website but one is better than the other. The Dedicated Hosting will provide you with better performance, security, and reliability. Comparing to shared hosting you don’t really know who you’re sharing your hosting server with and is ultimately slower due to the high amount of website under their server.

Our Process to Make Your Website Faster

When we deliver a website we made sure to implement guidelines that help us deliver a faster website. From design to development, every step has to have speed on the mind. Things we keep in mind are the number of images per page, script files, and no absolutely no over-stuffing your website. Sure, some websites need to have more functions than others like bookings, user profiles, and whatever your mind can think of, but, we have a solution. We can either create a multi-site, user separate subdomains for different important functions of your website. Whatever the challenge may be, we always come up with a better answer.

Compressing files, optimizing images, and following our guidelines help us deliver a better performing website without losing the idea of our clients business.

Choosing who can optimize your website speed should understand the challenges that come with optimizing a website. If you need help optimizing and maintaining your website up to top speed don’t hesitate to contact us.
